It is hard to believe that the first week has come and gone I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you all back to a new school year at St. Jerome. Our staff is excited for a new school year with your children. My name is Tim Slack, and I am the new principal at our school. I have met quite a few parents this first week and please do not hesitate to stop me outside to introduce yourself.

Since it is the start of the school year, I need to pass along some important information items that you need to know.

  1. Communication Between the Office and Home: I am a big believer in keeping parents informed, aware and involved in our community. It will not be very often that papers are sent home from the office. Announcement and information will be shared mostly via email and our website. If you have not signed up for School Messenger, you will not get emails from the school unless it is an emergency. Please take a moment to sign up for School Messenger if you have not already done so. Please take the time to explore our website: http://jer.ocsb.ca/ and check back regularly as it will be frequently updated. To learn more about school life at St. Jerome, what our students and staff are doing, follow us on twitter @StJeromeOCSB. We are going to be using the #hashtag #JERPride. Don't hesitate to get positively involved in the conversation and use #JERPride.
  2. Safe Arrival and Departure at School: Kiss and Ride's are always tricky. Please do not leave your car parked in the Kiss and Ride in the mornings. Doing so will help with the flow of traffic and keep our children safe. Do not park in the front lane of the school and wait for your child at 3:00 PM. The only vehicles in this lane should be the special transportation vans. Please park on the street, not in the parking lot, and walk over to meet your child.
  3. Welcome Back BBQ and Meet the Educator Night: The date has is firm! Sept., 18th from 5-7PM you will have a chance to see your child's classroom, meet their educators and catch up with friends you may not have seen for a while. We hope you can make it out and we look forward to seeing as many parents out as possible.
  4. School Agendas: There was a problem with the vendor for our school agendas this year. We have ordered with a new company, and they should be in the week of Sept.18th. Students in Grades 1-6 will receive them.

Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions, concerns and especially ideas. Working together always help create an active school community that will best meet the needs of everyone here at St. Jerome.

Have a great weekend!

Tim Slack
