St. Jerome Virtual Angel Tree 2020

Time to warm up the holidays together! It is hard to believe that the holiday season is just around the corner. The Christmas Angel Tree is one of St Jerome’s most beloved and important traditions. For years our students have picked tags off the tree to help ensure the children at our sister school, Dr FJ McDonald, have something special to open on Christmas morning. In order to adapt to the Covid related restrictions, we have to take our tree Virtual this year. While we will all miss seeing the tree tags being picked off and the presents coming in, we hope that our school family will still come together to spread Christmas cheer. With everything going on this year, the need during the holiday season is greater than ever in some of our OCSB schools.

We have set up three ways for our St Jerome families to participate.

  • Walmart Gift Cards: Please consider donating a Walmart Gift Card. Anything over $25 would be much appreciated. These cards will be used by the sister school staff buying a personalised gift for their students in need. These gift cards can be sent into the school with your child or dropped off at the school.

  • Donation through School CashOnline: If you prefer, you may donate via SchoolCashOnline. These monies will be sent to our sister school where they will be used to prepare holiday food boxes for their students’ families. This is so important as the students do not have access to the school food cupboard over the holidays. If you are able to participate in either of the above initiatives, we are asking that you send in your gift card, or donate online, by Thursday, December 3rd. This will ensure that our sister school has enough time to get ready and organise for their families. Here is the link for School CashOnline.

  • Winter Clothing Drive: Please join us in a collective effort to ensure that our sister school Dr. F.J, has new or like-new winter clothing for this Winter season. The school maintains a clothing cupboard to hand out these items to children who come to school without. Please send in new and gently used clothing item items (coats, snow pants, mitts, hats, boots etc) to the school from November 25-27, 2020. Items can be dropped off at the school or sent with your child in a plastic bag.

Thank you St Jerome families for joining in the Spirit of the Season and keeping our Angel Tree tradition alive!
