Thursday, June 9th, our grade 6 Public Speaking Finals was held in the learning commons. The speeches were on a wide variety of topics, were very well written and were delivered with great passion and persuasion. Congratulations to Ella S and Delaney L who won the French and the English contests, respectively. All 14 finalists are to be congratulated as all of the speeches were very well done reflecting a lot of practice and effort. We thank Ms Sloan for leading the organization of the event and we also thank Madame Fredette, Ms Ohler and Madame Albrough for judging.
Later on at lunch, our Peacebuilders broke bread together at our annual Peacebuilders Luncheon. It is an opportunity for the school to recognize the tremendous work that our Peacebuilders do all year round. They act as playground leaders, school ambassadors, and mediators; they also organize and lead many awareness campaigns for Anti-bullying and Kindness Weeks. We thank Ms Sloan and Ms Iaderosa for their leadership with the group and we welcome Ms Nisbet who will be joining the PBs next year.
In the afternoon, the Grade 2s hosted the Hope Assembly for St. Jerome. Their presentation involved singing, stories, intentions and prayers, and art and graphics. They presented many meanings of the gospel value of Hope and were very well supported by their parents. It was a beautiful assembly that culminated in the recognition of many students who demonstrate the qualities of Hope every day. Thanks to our Grade 2 Team, Ms Iaderosa, Ms Fournier, Ms Stockdale, Ms Graham, Mr McAffrey and Ms Nisbet for their work in organizing the event with the grade 2s.
