Chess Tournament: SJ After Hours

Thursday, April 14th, 28 students, five parent volunteers and two teachers met to challenge each other's skill and strategy in our second annual chess tournament.  The afternoon began with a pizza luncheon to energize our young strategists.
Our chess club runs year round and includes students of the game from grade 1 to 6.  Grade 3s represent the greatest number of chess players with 11 aspiring masters.
Thanks to the many parent volunteers who joined us to assist with the tournament and to Mr McCaffrey and Madame Schiller for their organization of the event. The SJ Chess Team goes to Dr. FJ MacDonald on May 5th to participate in a 3 school tournament, the second time they have participated.
