Catholic Education Week: May 2-6

posted Apr 29, 2016, 6:52 AM by Steve McGarrity
We celebrate Catholic Education Week from May 2 to May 6. The theme this year is Opening the Doors of Mercy.   There are five sub themes that help the students understand the rich meaning of this year's theme: MERCY that WELCOMES; MERCY that LOVES;  MERCY that FORGIVES; MERCY that LIVES THE GOSPEL;  and MERCY that REJOICES. Each day we share a gospel reading and a saint's story to show students yet another face of mercy.

We welcome you to our opening Liturgy on Monday, May 2 at 10:00. Our Grade 1 students have prepared a wonderful celebration of Mercy to begin our week. We will also be presenting Ms Carmel Horan with a cheque for the OK Clean Water Project from our Lenten social justice fundraising.

Our Open House is Wednesday, May 4th from 7:30 am to 8:45.  It's a great time to come together as a community. This year we have a special French Cafe where students will be sharing their compositions and singing. Our dance team and choirs will be performing from 8:30 to 8:45 in the gymnasium. As last year, we ask you to lug a mug and bring a baked good (no nuts please). We'll have coffee and juice available at tables around the school.

Our school dance is Friday, May 6th from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. We have awesome DJs joining us who'll make the evening a blast. The dance is a School Council event and the dance committee would appreciate volunteers to help with supervision.

See the schedule of events that was sent out with our last News Update for all of the events and activities for Catholic Education Week.
